We got in touch with Terry via the Bedfordshire Road Cycling Club, who very kindly put our project on their club meeting agenda for discussion. Terry will be riding with us from Clophill (Bedfordshire) into Coventry, and he has devised our ace route into Coventry City Centre, “which is approx. 75 miles but only uses 5-6 miles of A road. It may be possible to shorten the journey but major roads would be involved. The route is based upon one that was used traditionally by clubmen to ride to Warwick in order to compete in the Warwick Road Club ‘100’. (Another tradition was that riding home after the event one always stopped for peaches and ice cream at a cafe in Southam but I suspect that the cafe is long gone.)”
